Mary Stallings, true jazz world star will sing in Prague

The concert of great jazz singer Mary Stallings will be held on December 23rd from 7 pm at the historical building of the National Theatre and will open new project Jazz at Opera.

The concert will be under the auspices of the U.S. Embassy in Prague and of the Czech Ambassador to the USA Petr Gandalovič.

Mary Stallings is one of the true stars in the world of jazz. Her voice helped shape the history of the music, alongside such greats as Ben Webster, Cal Tjader, Earl Hines, Red Mitchell, Teddy Edwards, the Montgomery Brothers, Billy Eckstein, Joe Williams, Tony Bennett, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie or Ella Fitzgerald.

It was only through a long career that she matured into a master of the trade. Her singing reflects her life experiences and emotions, with words to give them true depth and meaning. Listeners and concert goers have been enthralled with her gift of emotional interpretation, as well as a jazz that’s full of soul with a light spice of swing.

She performs regularly at jazz festivals around the world, including the legendary Monterey Jazz Festival. The release of her newest album Dream in the fall of 2010 was followed by glowing reviews in publications such as Jazz Times of the American jazz monthly DownBeat Magazine.

Tickets are available at the National Theatre's box office or at selected Ticket providers throughout Prague.
